Mary Allen Harvey, 92, of 5058 Rockbridge Road, Skippers, Va., formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, with her family by her side.

Mrs. Harvey, a native of Greensville County, Virginia, was the daughter of the late George Yates Allen and Lucy Morgan Allen. She was the widow of the late Ernest Milton Harvey and was also preceded in death by her brother, John William Allen, Sr. Mrs. Harvey was a graduate of Greensville County High School, class of 1935. She loved her church and was a very active and life long member of Fountain Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Gerald Harvey and his wife, Angela, of Skippers, Virginia; two grandchildren, Kevin Harvey and Kelly Harvey, both of Youngsville, NC; her sister, Rosalie A. Cox of Chester, Virginia; and her sister-in-law Doris Allen of Skippers, Virginia.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Fountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 24, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
